Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the service and repair all equipment, troubleshooting, analysis of apparatus failure, and keeping apparatus and equipment in a high level of service and safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the service and repair of all fire apparatus equipment.
  • Testing and repairing equipment by traveling to the location of the customer.
  • Provide troubleshooting and performing installation of equipment.
  • Attending to the needs of the customer whenever required.
  • Provide confirmation that equipment is functional.
  • Provide telephone support to the customer in order to perform troubleshooting.
  • Follow through to ensure equipment is in proper working condition after performing troubleshooting.

Qualifications
  • Must be willing to travel within an assigned territory.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Excellent customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must assume responsibility for high quality repair process.
  • Must have the ability to work independently or with less supervision
  • Should have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to manage service calls

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Clean driving record with or able to obtain a Class B non-exempt CDL driver license
  • Knowledge of repair principles and procedures in all areas of the Heavy Truck Repaid Industry

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) and ASE Heavy Truck Certifications are a plus

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk stairs and/or climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
