Field Service Solutions Architect information

What is a field service solutions architect?

Field Service Solutions Architects are professionals who design and implement technical solutions for field service operations, such as maintenance, repair, and installation services. They work closely with clients to understand their business requirements and create customized systems that optimize field workforce management, scheduling, and service delivery. These architects often collaborate with software developers, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. Their expertise helps companies improve customer satisfaction, reduce operational costs, and increase overall efficiency in their field service operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a field service solutions architect?

To thrive as a Field Service Solutions Architect, you need a solid background in IT systems integration, field service management, and a degree in computer science or a related field. Expertise with field service management platforms (such as ServiceNow or Salesforce Field Service), cloud technologies, and relevant certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect are typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills help you collaborate with stakeholders and deliver tailored solutions. These skills and qualities are essential for designing effective, scalable solutions that meet client needs and drive operational efficiency in field service organizations.

How does a field service solutions architect typically collaborate with clients and internal teams during project implementation?

As a Field Service Solutions Architect, you play a key role in bridging client requirements with technical solutions. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their field service processes and challenges, then collaborate with internal engineering, product, and support teams to design, customize, and implement tailored solutions. Regular communication and feedback loops are essential, as you’ll often facilitate workshops, address technical concerns, and ensure the delivered solution aligns with client expectations. This collaborative approach helps ensure project success and builds long-term client relationships.

This position provides advanced L2 technical support, leads electrical troubleshooting efforts, reinforces training for Field Service teams, supports factory testing, and serves as the primary electrical technical representative for complex customer and vendor communications. The role helps elevate field capability, improve product reliability, and ensure safe and successful execution of electrical work across all project sites.

What you will do?

  • Support factory testing, FAT procedures, commissioning, and QA verification for electrical equipment before shipment.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and manufacturing teams on recurring issues, design improvement opportunities, and field performance insights.
  • Act as the primary L2 electrical technical support escalation point for the Field Service team.
  • Provide remote support for advanced troubleshooting, diagnostic walk-throughs, and corrective action planning.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to assist with complex electrical failures, commissioning challenges, or escalated service events.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and controls documentation to determine root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Support factory-based electrical training for Field Service Technicians, including hands-on instruction, safety practices, and system operation.
  • Travel to job sites to coach technicians, reinforce training, and elevate team competency on new equipment or technologies.
  • Continually update training materials and drive continuous improvement in the Field Service training program.
  • Represent Field Service during complex technical calls with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and QA teams to resolve systemic electrical issues and improve equipment reliability.
  • Provide technical insight during client walkthroughs, system turnover, or post-installation support as needed.
  • Participate in interviewing and assessing Field Service Technician candidates to ensure strong electrical competency and cultural alignment.
  • Support onboarding by helping integrate new technicians into technical workflows and safety expectations.
  • Oversee and participate in installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems at customer sites when escalation is required.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure system performance aligns with mission-critical reliability expectations.
  • Complete accurate service reports, work orders, and corrective action documentation.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and service vehicles in proper condition.
  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70/70E, OSHA requirements, local electrical codes, and Integras SafeState safety culture.
  • Promote safe work practices, PPE usage, LOTO procedures, and adherence to engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with ability to explain complex electrical issues clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide escalation-level troubleshooting and remote diagnostic support.
  • Ability to travel extensively between factories and customer job sites.
