This role plays a critical leadership function within Ciena Services by ensuring complex customer projects are delivered with financial discipline, technical rigor, and a strong customer focus. The position directly influences Professional Services outcomes by aligning delivery execution with organizational goals while strengthening long-term customer relationships. Through hands-on leadership and cross-functional collaboration, this role helps scale delivery excellence across Ciena's services portfolio.
How you will make an impact:
  • Maintain expertise in delivery tools, methods, and practices to enable consistent project execution.
  • Present and implement Ciena Services' value proposition aligned to customer priorities and business outcomes.
  • Develop delivery-focused resources and methodologies that enhance Professional Services practices.
  • Manage project resources with full P&L accountability to meet defined financial objectives.
  • Align service delivery execution with Ciena's annual Professional Services goals and metrics.
  • Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams to achieve defined project milestones.
  • Build and sustain customer relationships across organizational levels to support satisfaction and trust.

The must haves:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certifications: PMP certification preferred; required within one year of hire.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of operational experience in telecommunications or related industries.
  • Experience: At least 7 years in a Professional Services role managing medium to large-scale projects.
  • Experience: Experience leading teams or managing project managers, including providing coaching, direction, and performance oversight.
  • Experience: 2+ years' experience leading field deployment teams in project execution, preferably in the telecommunications space.
  • Experience with large systems providers or integrators.
  • Ability to articulate and discuss product functionality with diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Verbal presentation, written communication, and time management skills applied in project delivery environments.

Nice to haves:
  • Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement training and experience.
  • Technical background applied to assessing complex project risks and guiding development teams.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing team members or project managers.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed or cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in response to evolving technologies and customer needs.
  • Familiarity with Ciena's solutions and their application in client environments.

Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position in US is $96900 - $154700.
The annual pay range for this position in Canada is C$104700 - C$167300.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
