Description
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing Evatec equipment at customer locations throughout North America. This role supports highly technical vacuum deposition and thin film coating systems used in semiconductor and advanced manufacturing environments. The position requires strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, software support capability, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to travel extensively in support of customer operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, commission, and support Evatec vacuum deposition systems at customer facilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and system upgrades
  • Support equipment performance optimization and process improvement initiatives
  • Install, configure, and support software systems associated with equipment operation and customer production environments
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, software, and systems-related issues
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and service documentation
  • Document service activity, maintenance records, and technical reports accurately
  • Provide technical support and operational training to customer personnel
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, technical support, and service teams to resolve customer issues
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through professional on-site support and communication
  • Support critical customer manufacturing operations with a strong sense of urgency and professionalism

Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% throughout North America, including occasional international travel
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience with semiconductor, vacuum systems, thin film deposition equipment, capital equipment, or military technical systems preferred
  • Experience installing and configuring software systems in technical or manufacturing environments preferred
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Customer-facing technical service experience preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Military technical experience highly transferable
