Job description

Structural Metal Decking Installer (Field Ironwork)

Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc. is adding a field installer to our new construction crew to help deliver high-quality sheet metal decking installations nationwide. You’ll work on active construction sites, placing and fastening metal decking to steel framing, welding as needed, and performing shear stud installation with a strong focus on safety and craftsmanship.

A Day in the Field
  • Kick off with a site safety briefing and tool check.
  • Lay out, align, and securely attach metal decking on steel structures.
  • Weld decking and complete shear stud installation when required by the scope.
  • Use hand, power, pneumatic, and powder‑actuated tools efficiently and safely.
  • Keep tools and equipment in top working order.
  • Record accurate time and attendance at the end of each workday.
  • Follow OSHA, customer, and company safety standards without exception.
  • Support teammates with additional site tasks as assigned.
What It Takes
  • 100% nationwide travel required; projects rotate to different cities/states.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs and work at heights over 40 feet.
  • Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Hands-on experience with hand, power, pneumatic, and powder‑actuated tools.
  • Reliable, safety‑conscious mindset with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Schedule & Project Locations
  • Full-time, hourly role on daytime shift only.
  • When a project wraps, you’ll travel to the next active site.
  • Hours vary slightly with site needs and seasonal conditions.
  • Active and upcoming sites across GA, NM, TX, LA, VA, AZ, SC, MD, and more.
