The Mission: Protecting Network Quality & Field Safety
On behalf of our client, a leading provider of high-speed telecommunications infrastructure, we are seeking a highly detailed and vigilant Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Inspector.
In this role, you will serve as the ultimate quality gatekeeper in the field. You will be responsible for reviewing physical builds, analyzing ongoing construction methods, and enforcing strict safety guidelines. Our client is looking for an analytical technical professional who ensures that the physical network deployment matches exact engineering blueprints perfectly, on time, and without safety incidents. If you have a passion for construction precision and an unyielding commitment to regulatory compliance, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Engineering Compliance: Conduct thorough physical inspections of active OSP construction sites. You will verify that all civil work, utility placement, and line configurations comply exactly with project blueprints, design standards, and local regulatory mandates.
- Materials & Installation Evaluation: Audit ongoing field activities, structural materials, and equipment installations. Ensure everything brought to and implemented on the job site meets industry best practices and strict client benchmarks.
- Defect & Deviation Remediation: Instantly identify any engineering deviations, shortfalls, or layout non-compliance from approved project plans. Recommend and document clear, immediate corrective actions to preserve the total integrity of the network build.
- Rigorous Safety Monitoring: Actively monitor active infrastructure job sites for complete adherence to OSHA and local safety protocols. Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), heavy equipment safety zones, and safe excavation/handling procedures.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential safety hazards and utility conflicts. Work collaboratively alongside construction supervisors and field crews to implement immediate measures to mitigate risks and protect the work environment.
Qualifications of a Strong Candidate
- Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience in OSP construction inspection, construction supervision, or field utility auditing, specifically within the telecommunications industry.
- Technical Breadth: Thorough knowledge of modern OSP construction standards, civil excavation practices, and telecommunications safety codes.
- Infrastructure Literacy: Familiarity with fiber optic network infrastructure components, aerial/underground installation techniques, and standard network testing procedures.
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving capability and deep attention to detail, allowing you to catch minor design non-conformities before they translate into expensive field adjustments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. You must be comfortable delivering assertive, clear, and technical directions to diverse subcontractor crews and stakeholders.
- Inspection Tools: Proficiency utilizing standard field measurement devices, digital testing instruments, and mobile field documentation software.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional vocational or technical training in telecommunications or civil inspection is highly preferred.
- Desirable Credentials: Industry certifications such as a BICSI OSP Technician or equivalent are considered a major competitive advantage.
Why Join This Infrastructure Team?
- Quality-First Culture: Work for an organization that values craftsmanship over cutting corners.
- Operational Autonomy: Own your field assignments, managing site validation with independence and respect.
- Critical Project Pipeline: Play a primary role in structural network rollouts that bring vital connectivity to regional communities.
