Job description

Salary: 25 - 26.92

Job Summary: The Weatherization Field Technician Crew Lead will ensure the installation of safety and home energy-saving measures, working to reduce the monthly energy costs of clients. They will work with and oversee a team of technicians working to weatherize homes by repairing or installing new windows, insulating ductwork, insulating attics, and maintaining heating, ventilating, & air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The Weatherization Field Technician Crew Lead will work with the WX leadership team to schedule jobs, develop goals, and finalize and approve installation work.



Work Hours:

7:00 AM - 5:30 PM Monday - Thursday


Work Location: Currently Vineyard, soon to be Provo


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Weatherization Field Tech Crew calendar.
  • Review completed jobs to ensure work is completed using best practices and meeting the Utah Weatherization Assistance Program(WAP) Field Guide.
  • Coordinate with WX Leadership Team to meet monthly and yearly production goals.
  • Completes training through the Weatherization Program Badging process.
  • Manage onsite safety, including the proper use of PPE.
  • Review appropriate paperwork with clients and provide client education
  • Track inventory used on the job and fill out work orders as measures are completed.
  • Verify all work is done to the Utah WAP field guide standards.
  • Keep a professional appearance and respectful, clean manner while inside clients' homes.
  • Air seal attic bypasses, install weatherstripping on exterior doors, and air seal ducts in unconditioned spaces, to reduce the amount of condition air being lost through the leaks in a house.
  • Install vapor barrier in crawl spaces to reduce the amount of moisture in the home.
  • Install LED lights, water heater tank insulation, pipe insulation, thermostat, bathroom ventilation fans, venting out all exhaust fans inside the house to the exterior.
  • Install smoke alarms in all sleeping areas and common areas of the home. Install Carbon monoxide alarms on all levels of the home. Perform worst-case draft test on all natural draft appliances after air sealing work to ensure they are drafting properly.
  • Install bathroom ventilation fans and vent out all existing exhaust fans to the exterior of the home to reduce moisture and improve indoor air quality.
  • Complete Blower Door testing after air sealing measures have been completed.
  • Complete all trainings to ensure the correct procedures of jobs.
  • Remove and install new double-pane vinyl windows to improve efficiency. Remove and install new insulated fiberglass exterior doors.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Within a year of hire, complete state-required training and certifications
    • OSHA 30, Building Science Principles, Lead safety certified, RMGA certified, WX Crew Lead
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Conflict management
  • Experience in on-site project management
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Understanding of power tool safety
  • Ability to read a measuring tape
  • Experience in removal and installation, manual labor, and the use of tools


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of related experience or comparable training
  • Experience lending teams
  • EPA and RMGA certifications (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of weatherization techniques and materials. (preferred)


Working Conditions:This position works outdoors and in client residences. Work may include entering attics, basements, crawl spaces, and living spaces. Frequent travel will be required in this position. This is an hourly position, working 40 hours per week.
