Common Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding entry-level engineering rolesTechnical support and field operations

Field Engineer Eit typically requires an engineering degree and EIT certification, focusing on engineering project oversight and technical support. Field Technicians usually hold technical diplomas, performing hands-on maintenance and installation tasks. While both roles work in similar industries like utilities and construction, the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) role emphasizes engineering principles, whereas Field Technicians focus on practical equipment work.

What is a Field Engineer EIT?

A Field Engineer EIT (Engineer-in-Training) is an entry-level engineering professional who works on-site to oversee and support technical projects, often in industries like construction, civil, or mechanical engineering. The 'EIT' designation means the individual has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is working towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Field Engineer EITs assist with project planning, supervise installations, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations. They often work under the supervision of senior engineers while gaining the practical experience required for full licensure.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, validation, and submission of regulatory and operational reporting for internal stakeholders, market operators, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain compliance records, permits, licenses, and reporting schedules, ensuring documentation is accurate, organized, and audit-ready.

  • Contribute to special projects, analyses, and other engineering-related initiatives as required.
  • Support Enfinite’s safety culture by following procedures, participating in site activities, and promoting safe work practices.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel to Enfinite operational sites will be required for facility visits, audits, inspections, and project support.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the applicable provincial engineering association.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize information, work with data, and communicate technical information clearly through documentation and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Interest in developing processes, improving systems, and learning how operational decisions are supported through data.
  • Co-op, internship, or engineering experience in power generation, utilities, renewable energy, industrial operations, or a related industry is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to regulatory compliance, operational reporting, asset management, or maintenance planning is considered an asset.
  • Experience with SQL, Databricks, Power BI, SCADA, or similar data management and analytics tools is considered an asset.
