A Civil Engineer EIT (Engineer-in-Training) is an entry-level civil engineer who has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is working towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). EITs typically work under the supervision of a licensed engineer and assist in designing, planning, and overseeing construction projects such as roads, bridges, and buildings. This role provides hands-on experience and helps EITs fulfill the work requirements necessary to qualify for the PE exam. The EIT designation demonstrates a foundational knowledge of engineering principles and a commitment to professional development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a civil engineer EIT?

To thrive as a Civil Engineer EIT, you need a solid understanding of engineering principles, a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exam. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with teams and clients. These skills ensure accurate project design, regulatory compliance, and effective teamwork in delivering infrastructure projects.

Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle.
