Job description

Summary/objective

The Field Technician will be based inside an automotive repair shop and perform diagnostic scans and calibrations as well as assisting with virtual diagnostic scans and calibrations. This position will consult with the shop(s) and promote Repairify as it relates to diagnostics and calibrations.

Essential functions

  • Serve as primary client contact as needed within the service process
  • Promoting the necessity for diagnostic and calibrations at assigned shop
  • Responsible for performing precise calibrations for all types of Advanced Drivers Assist System (ADAS) across most vehicle makes and models
  • Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs and calibrations on multiple makes and models
  • Perform pre and post vehicle calibration documentation, prepare report paperwork for customers
  • Read and understand measurements in both standard and metric units
  • Perform basic R/I procedures to access sensors and control modules
  • Act as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basis
  • Evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components, and Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS)
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technology
  • Responsible for driving customer or company vehicles for the purpose of delivery, testing or calibration
  • Utilize understanding of the structure and practices of various types of repair facilities, body shops, insurance carriers to facilitate effective working relationships
  • Collaborate with other technicians to perform in depth diagnostic test plans
  • Adhere to all company policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of car dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician
  • OEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledge
  • General knowledge in identification of faults, error messages and modules
  • General knowledge in automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience
  • In depth understanding of automotive industry and various manufacturer acronyms and lingo
  • Current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical College Graduate, Automotive Field or equivalent
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Company designated certifications: ASE, I-Car, MECP
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

 

Supervisory responsibilities

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work environment

This job operates inside an automotive repair shop environments that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.

 

Physical demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
  • Must be able to carry and transport up to 75 pounds up to 20 feet.
  • Requires standing for extended period with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • Requires use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
  • Requires frequent driving and some typing. Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.

 

Travel required

Some travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.
