Location: Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Marquette, Metro Detroit

About the Role:

Join Mobilize Michigan as a Field Canvasser and help mobilize voters through door-to-door conversations and voter registration programs that build community power, strengthen civic engagement and advance progressive causes. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grassroots organizing and to make a difference in your community. 
This position requires no prior experience. We provide comprehensive training for all new team members!

Key Responsibilities:

As a Field Canvasser, you will be a vital part of our voter outreach programs. Your duties will encompass a wide range of grassroots activities, including:

  • Door-to-Door Canvassing: Engaging in face-to-face conversations with community members to share information, listen to their concerns, and mobilize them to take action.
  • Voter Registration: Help eligible residents register to vote and ensure registration information is completed accurately.
  • Public Engagement: Initiate respectful, persuasive conversations with community members to share our message and mobilize voters.
  • Goal Tracking: Consistently achieve daily and weekly goals and accurately log contacts.
  • Training & Compliance: Attend trainings, follow safety protocols, and ensure data and form accuracy.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with Field Directors/Team Leads throughout the day and participate in end-of-day debriefs.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience is a plus but none is required to apply.
  • A strong passion for civic engagement and the mission of Mobilize Michigan to support progressive organizations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; enjoys talking with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A positive, coachable attitude and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic comfort with technology, such as using a smartphone or tablet.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
