Job description

If you are looking for a dynamic, fast-growth company with big ideas, you have come to the right place! Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is looking for Geotechnical Field Technicians in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Responsibilities include construction observation and testing of soil, concrete, and other materials. This is an EXCELLENT opportunity for new graduates with interests in geology, geotechnical engineering, and construction project management looking to start their career with a stable, growing company. Ample opportunities for training, certifications and career advancement. You must own a vehicle, have a good driving record, like working with people, and enjoy working outdoors. GTA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses. Experience is preferred, but we will accept entry level candidates and provide training!

This position may require standing for extended durations as well as repetitive motions such as lifting or hammering. The employee must have the ability to use their hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit, see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. The employee will regularly lift and/or move 60 pounds; and occasionally move 80 pounds or more (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).

Compensation is paid on an hourly basis. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate. Your time is measured from the time you arrive at the office in the morning to the time you leave the office in the evening, excluding any time for lunch. Travel mileage is reimbursed at the IRS rate (currently $0.73 per mile) for travel from office to job site and back to office.

Successful candidates MUST have:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology, or similar degree preferred but not required

  • Own a Reliable Vehicle, have a Valid Drivers License, and have a Good Driving Record
  • Enjoy working outdoors
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a group
