Job description

Position Summary:Provides the Radiation Oncology Department with treatment planning services for cases of simple to intermediate complexity and with supervision creates and assists in the creation of treatment plans for cases of advanced complexity or utilizing advanced modalities. Participates in quality assurance programs, radiation safety, and training.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:
  1. Designs patient external beam treatment plans by means of computer aided and/or manual computation that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose in accordance with the Radiation oncologist's prescription to a defined treatment volume while minimizing radiation to surrounding tissue and organs.
  2. Identifies and contours relevant organs at risk for a given treatment site for use in treatment plan optimization.
  3. Performs image registration and fusion for diagnostic image studies and previous CT simulations for use in target and structure delineation and evaluation of previously delivered dose.
  4. Provide guidance and oversight for CT/clinical simulations and treatment plan implementation as needed, including use of immobilization devices, compensators, motion management, and other treatment variables.
  5. Assists with coordination and communication of planning workflow with therapy, physics, and physicians.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in medical dosimetry or related field (Associate's Degree or Technical Diploma in Radiation Therapy if received prior to 2017) or in the final 6 months of clinical rotations of a dosimetry program.
  • Board certification within two years of hiring. Candidates hired prior to graduation may be granted an extension.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in medical dosimetry.
  • Active member of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD)
