FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Automation Personnel Services is seeking qualified, motivated, and proactive candidates with a strong work history to join our team as an Field Service Technician In this role, you will be responsible for performing overhead crane maintenance, repairs, installations, and inspections. Additional responsibilities include completing all required documentation and maintaining clear communication with customers to ensure quality service and safety standards are met. $25.00 to $40.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday
7:00AM – 4:00PM
Field Service Technician Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes and industrial electrical systems
• Install, inspect, and test electrical components, wiring, controls, motors, and equipment
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues using testing equipment and technical manuals
• Complete preventive maintenance and safety inspections on industrial equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Repair or replace faulty electrical parts, motors, relays, switches, and control systems
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA, company, and customer safety standards
• Complete service reports, inspection forms, and required documentation accurately and on time
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs, maintenance findings, and recommendations
• Respond to emergency service calls and equipment breakdowns as needed
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and system modifications
• Work independently or as part of a team in industrial and manufacturing environments
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at customer sites and company facilities
Field Service Technician Qualifications and Requirements
• Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills
• Ability to assess and manage field-related activities, including electrical inspections, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited or incomplete information to meet customer requirements
• Prior overhead crane maintenance or industrial electrical experience preferred
• Experience working with industrial AC/DC motors, motor controls, and power distribution systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screening
• Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented mindset
• Ability to climb, stand, lift, and work at elevated heights for extended periods
• Willingness to travel throughout the Gulf South region and work occasional weekends as needed
Field Service Technician Education Requirements
• Trade school education with coursework in AC power control and wiring preferred
• Knowledge of frequency inverter controls, AC circuits, digital fundamentals, solid-state devices, linear integrated circuits, industrial electronics, motor controls, microprocessors, programmable controls, and control technology
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology or related field is a plus
