Description

At Eastport Analytics, our data subject matter experts, technologists, and domain specialists work directly with financial investigators, auditors, and analysts to modernize data strategies and improve law and tax enforcement. We measure success by our client's mission accomplishments, including higher compliance and improved asset recovery.

As a Data Scientist at Eastport Analytics, you will utilize advanced expertise in SQL and Python to drive innovation and provide actionable insights through high-fidelity data manipulation and complex analysis.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Infrastructure and Data Lifecycle: Develop and implement databases and collection systems to acquire data from primary and secondary sources while documenting SQL models for efficient data management.
  • Advanced Analytics: Perform comprehensive data manipulation, wrangling, and exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify and interpret complex trends within large-scale datasets.
  • Strategic Decision Support: Utilize statistical software and modeling techniques to provide synthesized, actionable insights that inform senior leadership and client stakeholder decision-making.
  • Storytelling and Communication: Convey complex technical findings to non-technical domain users through advanced data visualization, briefings, and executive-level slide decks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the multi-disciplinary teams to extract and translate insights from both structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Project Execution: Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously under strict deadlines within a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics); Master's degree or data science boot camp a plus.
  • Two+ years in a data science role; experience in federal financial regulatory environments (e.g., Treasury) or government contracting preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib) and SQL for architecting and modifying complex code within Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
  • Experience leveraging data warehousing solutions to query and extract insights from high-volume, large-scale datasets.
  • Understanding of descriptive/inferential statistics and regression modeling, with the ability to leverage generative AI, such as LLMs, and agent-based coding to automate workflows.
  • Proficiency in diverse data science technologies (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, NLP, R/SAS, Plotly, NoSQL) and data visualization tools such as Power BI and Excel.
  • Experience with Palantir products a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination; U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required.
  • Remote position requiring availability to collaborate during core business hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST) and attend quarterly in-person meetings in the Washington, D.C. area.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated base salary for this position is $103,000 to $120,000 (annualized USD). This role is eligible for bonus pay and a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
