Job description

Overview
Wanted: a detail oriented candidate with 3 years structured cabling experience to be our next Cable Technician 4 Chantilly, VA.
Responsibilities
  • Work independently or as part of a crew performing various tasks such as pulling, terminating and testing copper and fiber cable, installing cable tray and various other types of cable support hardware.
  • Demonstrates the proper procedures for installing, terminating, testing, troubleshooting and documenting cable plan system to team members
  • Generates equipment list and bills of material for completing tasks
  • Interfaces with customer as required on day-to-day basis and informs project manager of possible problems or changes to scope of work
  • Uses hand tools, including various punch tools, test equipment, and various power tools such as hammer drills and saws.
  • Uses various types of copper and fiber cable and termination hardware as well as termination and testing procedures used on a day-to-day basis.
  • Depending on job level, has knowledge of various cable plant configurations such as STAR, BUS and RING and working knowledge of various cable plant configurations use to support such networks as ETHERNET, TOKEN RING and FDDI.
  • Has working knowledge of EIA/TIA requirements such as distance limitations and pin configurations.
  • Capable of reading blueprints and cut-sheets as well as generating test reports and as-builts.

Qualifications
  • BICSI Certifications are a plust but not required
  • High School plus advanced training, and minimum 3 years cabling experience.
  • Security Clearance is a plus but not required
  • US Citizenship is required for access to buildings and installations
  • Under supervision of Project Manager and/or Site-Lead, works independently or as part of a crew performing various tasks such as:
  • Pulling, terminating and testing copper and fiber cable, installing cable tray and various other types of cable support hardware.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, including various punch tools, test equipment, and power tools such as hammer drills and saws.
  • Proficient in the use of various types of copper and fiber cable and termination hardware as well as termination and testing procedures used on a day to day basis.
  • Has working knowledge of various cable plant configurations such as STAR, BUS and RING.
  • Has working knowledge of various cable plan configurations used to support such networks as ETHERNET, TOKEN-RING and FDDI.
  • Has working knowledge of EIA/TIA requirements such as distance limitations and pin configurations.
  • Capable of reading blueprints and cut-sheets as well as generating test reports and as-builts.
    Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work overhead reach for extended periods of time, work on hands and knees.
  • Ability to communicate well in English both verbally and written

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
