Job description

Overview

The Production Planner I, will be responsible for planning and coordinating intermediate production based on formulation schedules to meet customer demand. This role develops and optimizes production schedules to ensure timely execution of the production plan. The Production Planner analyzes demand, manages inventory levels, and collaborates closely with Production, Purchasing, and other cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. Using SAP MRP and scheduling tools, the planner monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, inventory, capacity, yield, scrap, and product lifecycle performance.

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize production schedules using ERP systems or manual Kanban processes, incorporating input from Production, Purchasing, Quality Control, Marketing, and Supply Planning.
  • Partner closely with Supply Assurance Buyers to proactively prevent material shortages and production disruptions.
  • Ensure efficient production flow through finite scheduling, data analysis, and resolution of routine scheduling issues.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret production reports to provide scheduling recommendations and support operational decision-making.
  • Monitor and resolve production scheduling messages and issues identified by manufacturing personnel.
  • Manage routine to moderately complex production planning and scheduling activities within an assigned scope.
  • Escalate non-routine issues and risks to management as appropriate.
  • Adhere to established procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Review work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with scheduling requirements.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and process improvements to enhance scheduling effectiveness and workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure packaging production schedules are executable, material-ready, and aligned with Global Planning demand.
  • Maintains accurate production plans by coordinating with Production, Purchasing, and Supply Assurance to prevent downtime and material shortages.
  • Utilizes SAP MRP and finite scheduling tools to improve schedule adherence, optimize production capacity, and balance inventory levels.
  • Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs), including yield, scrap, capacity, and product lifecycle risks, to identify constraints early and protect customer deliveries.
  • Drives continuous improvement by resolving scheduling issues, developing reports, and implementing workflow enhancements that improve planning accuracy and production flow.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and/or in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in production planning, scheduling, or materials planning preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate potential issues, prioritize competing demands, and proactively implement solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,310 - $95,400 annually, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is also eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
