Job description

Position Title: Disaster Relief IT Manager (Hybrid)
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Position Description:
Join a dynamic healthcare organization as a Disaster Relief IT Manager, where you'll lead critical technology response and recovery efforts during emergencies, disasters, and business continuity events. You will be instrumental in ensuring the resilience, security, and recovery of vital hospital IT systems, including EHR/EMR platforms, communication networks, and cloud services, to maintain seamless patient care during crises. This role offers an exciting opportunity for seasoned IT professionals with a passion for healthcare, crisis management, and cybersecurity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead hospital-wide disaster recovery and business continuity planning initiatives
  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans for essential healthcare systems and applications
  • Coordinate IT response during emergencies, outages, and cyber incidents to minimize disruption
  • Ensure the availability and security of clinical and operational technologies, including EHR/EMR, networks, and cloud infrastructure
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, clinical teams, cybersecurity, and external partners during crisis response
  • Manage disaster recovery exercises and incident response simulations to ensure preparedness
  • Oversee backup and recovery procedures for critical hospital data and systems
  • Support cybersecurity efforts, including ransomware recovery and incident containment
  • Monitor infrastructure resiliency, redundancy, and failover processes across all enterprise systems
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare security standards
  • Document recovery activities, incident reports, and post-incident analyses
  • Assist with emergency communication planning and escalation procedures
  • Recommend improvements to infrastructure resilience and operational readiness
  • Provide on-call support for 24/7 emergency coverage when needed

Top Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Emergency Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, disaster recovery, business continuity, or healthcare IT operations
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise healthcare systems such as EHR/EMR and clinical technologies
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery methodologies, backup strategies, and continuity planning
  • Deep understanding of networking, cloud computing, virtualization, and cybersecurity principles
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure during critical incidents and emergencies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working within acute care hospitals or large healthcare systems
  • Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar healthcare platforms
  • Certifications: CBCP, CISSP, PMP, ITIL, or Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE)
  • Experience with cloud recovery solutions and hybrid infrastructure environments
  • Knowledge of FEMA, NIMS, or hospital emergency management frameworks

Work Environment:
Hybrid or on-site at hospital facilities. Participation in emergency response rotations and after-hours support is required. Occasional travel between hospital sites or recovery locations may be necessary.
