Function/Duties of Position

The full-time annual base salary range for this position at an Assistant Professor is: $295,103 to $313,258; commensurate with experience and rank. Base pay does not include incentive pay, hiring bonuses, or additional benefits such as retirement contributions.

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the division head in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and advocacy. This faculty position will provide clinical care primarily at OHSU's Doernbecher Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with additional coverage at any of our OHSU affiliated or partner hospitals: PeaceHealth in Vancouver, Washington, OHSU Hillsboro and Adventist Health.

The duties of this position include:

Leadership:

There are multiple faculty opportunities at regional neonatology facilities and at OHSU. Senior faculty may be considered for leadership/medical direction roles at our regional facilities.

 

Clinical Activities:

This position provides clinical care primary at OHSU's Doernbecher Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and at a neonatal care center in Vancouver, Washington. This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to neonatology patients.

Administrative Activities:

As an OHSU faculty member is expected to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. All pediatric faculty members are expected to aid the division head and department chair in providing direction to the division and the department both on a day to day basis and as part of ongoing strategic planning and strategic planning.

 

Scholarly Activities:

OHSU faculty members are expected to have some scholarly activity, this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Faculty members are often called upon to partner with other providers and members of the department or division research support staff in research activity. Faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.

 

Education:

This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in pediatric rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the neonatology environment, this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in neonatology. Specifically, faculty members in neonatology are key educators to fellows enrolled in the neonatology fellowship program. This faculty member will provide education and feedback to fellowship trainees in the Neonatology Fellowship Program. This person would also be expected to provide feedback and guidance in the continuing development and improvement of the Neonatology Fellowship program.

 

Other Activities:

Faculty members may be called upon to serve on OHSU committees and in other activities as directed by the department chair or division head in furtherance of division, department, or OHSU goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • Appointee must be board eligible or board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Must be eligible for, or currently have an unrestricted Oregon and Washington Medical Licenses.
