1st Shift: 6 AM - 2:30 PM, OT & Weekends as needed

Position Summary

Material Handler I is a full-time hourly position responsible for assisting the warehouse department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Shipping

  • Wrap outgoing pallets making sure product is protected and pallets are sturdy.

  • Clearly labeling all outgoing pallets appropriate to destination.

  • Complete shipment requests in TMS system.

  • Complete outbound orders by following pick list and pulling corresponding materials.

  • Load trucks in a safe manner, following company quality and safety policies.

  • Communicate with drivers making sure the correct pallets are loaded.

  • Complete orders using ERP system, using a computer and scanner.

  • Use UPS/FedEx to ship small parcel packages as needed.

  • Complete truck inspection documentation per policy.

Receiving

  • Unload trucks in a safe manner while following company policies.

  • Complete truck inspection documentation per policy.

  • Count incoming freight for correct counts and inspect for damages.

  • Document inbound material damages for credit claims.

  • Collect appropriate paperwork for each incoming product/material.

  • Follow internal process to label all inbound materials.

  • Re-palletize any materials, as necessary.

  • Wrap pallets of incoming materials, as necessary.

  • Receive materials into ERP system using a computer and scanner.

  • Label each pallet of inbound material with required information.

  • Use TraceGains system to verify supplier approval and obtain expiry date information.

Inventory

  • Perform inventory counts on-site and off-site.

  • Move inventory as needed for production using first expired materials.

  • Follow internal process to label all finished goods.

  • Move materials to stock locations.

  • Move finished goods to stock locations.

Misc.

  • Assist with wrapping and tagging of all pallets of finished product.

  • Safely operate sit down electric forklift, stand up reach forklift, scissor lifts and electric pallet jacks upon completing company training courses.

  • Learn to safely operate a dock truck.

  • Assist in production departments as needed.

  • Operate scanner to process transactions in WADACO (WMS)

  • All other duties as assigned.

Cleaning & Organizing

  • Assist with maintaining organized, clean, and safe work areas and equipment.

  • Move items from drop zones or storage areas to other designated areas as needed.

  • Sweep and mop area, as necessary.

  • Dispose of recyclables as well as garbage as needed in the proper receptacles.

  • Wear the proper safety equipment and follow proper safety rules.

Safety

  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to the Environmental Health & Safety Manager.

  • Responsible to participate in mandatory safety training program requirements.

  • Responsible for pedestrian safety at all times when operating heavy equipment.

  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Completes quality and food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to supervisor and/or Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager.

  • Complete food safety and quality training program requirements.

  • Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality Policy Manual. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies.

  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Position Requirements

  • Required to read, write, and understand English, follow verbal instruction, and use simple math.

  • Required to lift up to 60 pounds.

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.

  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils, and greases.

  • Must have valid driver-s license.

  • Good math and analytical skills.

  • Good communication skills (oral and written).

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Self- motivated.

  • Positive attitude.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
