Job description

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short‑term incentives (bonus and/or commission) and may include long‑term incentives (stock awards). Benefits include comprehensive healthcare, well‑being benefits, paid family leave, generous paid time off, banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a Non‑Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Incentives and benefits are subject to eligibility requirements. Trust Officer Salary Range: $89,950 - $119,950+ annually.

Position Summary

The Trust Officer is responsible for developing, deepening, and maintaining relationships with investment management clients, trust clients, beneficiaries, and other interested parties for an assigned book of business and is expected to maintain and expand the network of centers of influence. The Trust Officer is an individual contributor responsible for assuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable regulations.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Create and administer personal trusts, investment agency, IRA (Individual Retirement Accounts), and guardianship accounts, serving as the primary contact for customers.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments with current and potential customers and provide ongoing advice and counsel tailored to clients’ financial goals.
  • Recommend appropriate products and services to meet needs based on objectives, tax and estate needs, risk tolerance, and proper asset allocations.
  • Meet with clients to ascertain their needs; work with clients’ families, beneficiaries, accountants, and attorneys.
  • Proactively reach out to high‑value prospects and clients to market trust and investment management services.
  • Cultivate business relationships with centers of influence to expand clientele.
  • Manage documentation of all sales activities to establish a record for performance tracking and facilitate targeted analysis for future sales initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a referral network of internal and external sources for additional sales opportunities.
  • Maintain contact with existing clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources to identify and pursue additional sales opportunities.
  • Identify and refer business to other areas within the Bank as appropriate.
  • Stay abreast of developments in probate and fiduciary law and pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Strictly adhere to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Bank and regulatory standards.
  • Work with outside legal counsel and other professionals to help establish legal and regulatory compliance in the administration of personal trusts, investment agency, IRA, and guardianship accounts.
  • Represent the Bank in community organizations and activities to enhance the Bank’s image.
  • Provide quality service in meeting customer needs, inquiries, and problems.
  • Travel occasionally for training and team meetings; willingness to travel periodically to locations within the market as needed; may require work in a Midland office.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree (JD or MBA) preferred.
  • CFP (Certified Financial Planner) or JD. If not holding a JD, then CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) certification or CTFA pending with 20 years industry experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in financial services, preferably in a bank trust environment; advanced designations and/or preparatory work may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and estate planning techniques.
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet time constraints without constant supervision.
  • Sales‑oriented, friendly and persuasive personality.
