Job description

Summary of Position: The Warehouse Associate is responsible for performing a range of general warehouse tasks including; loading, unloading, stock, inventory, labeling and receiving. Warehouse Associate contributes to the efficiency of the warehouse production by ensuring high safety and food handling standards are always maintained. Furthermore, assisting the department in managing air freight deliveries utilizing FedEx.
Responsibilities:
  • Unload product from the truck, container, and stock in the designated area.
  • Ensure that product is properly placed on racks, shelves, or in bins according to established practice.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to the packing station or shipping department and prepares for shipping.
  • Ensures that the product is handled in a sanitary manner.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Oversees the management of FedEx air freight deliveries, in addition to fulfilling other responsibilities pertinent to the role, such as preparing products for air delivery in a manner that meets required standards.
  • Records/removes amounts of materials or items received or distributed to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Arranges products in specified sequence for processing by other workers as needed.
  • Drives forklift or other motorized equipment to transport items within the plant.
  • Supports in maintaining receiving and inventory records.
  • Always adheres to the company’s safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience – One to two years of related experience in food production and familiarity with FedEx air freight services.
  • Work ethic – Sense of urgency in fulfilling critical and time-sensitive deadlines, accompanied by a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to collaboration within the team and maintaining composure in high-pressure environments characterized by significant workflow volume.
  • Accuracy – Demonstrated ability to accurately pack product in a timely fashion.
  • Language – Basic English speaking and written proficiency.
  • Mathematical – Ability to perform basic arithmetic tasks – adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying.
  • Environmental: Willingness to work in a cold climate of 0-35 degrees
  • A combination of the above will also be considered.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to come to a rest on the knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower position to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause workers to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
