 The School of Public Health division of Health Policy and Management is seeking applications for 1-2 casual (3-5 hours/week), Project Trainer/Study Interventionists (temporary/casual 0001)

Starting pay is dependent upon the selected candidates relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $35.00-37.00 per hour

On-site location: Mayo Memorial Building, 420 Delaware St SE, Minneapolis, TC Campus East Bank

Ability to travel to community-based events in the Twin Cities metro area, including occasional evenings and weekends.

This is a casual position (up to 5 hours/week)

Project Overview
The Valuing Immigrant Traditions and Aging with Life Successfully (VITALS) team at the University of Minnesota conducts community-engaged research to enhance the health and well-being of immigrant older adults. The VITALS project team works with communities to develop, test, and translate culturally appropriate interventions to decrease physical and cognitive disability in immigrant older adults. The trainer will deliver an adapted evidence-based intervention for high-risk dementia care partners enrolled in a randomized controlled trial.
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
Clinical Intervention, Training & Fidelity (80%)
Lead day-to-day implementation and effectively deliver psychoeducational intervention (i.e., the 6-session intervention) to dementia caregivers remotely.
Effectively communicate with the care partners to schedule and deliver intervention using the intervention protocol and offer support and resources to them as needed.
In conjunction with the PI, research coordinator, and other interventionists, collaborate on revising the intervention delivery and processes if needed.
Document participants' engagement in the study, maintain the participant tracking log, and arrange for follow-up appointments and outcome assessments within required timeframes.
Document all other intervention activities and complete all documentation and case notes promptly.
Research Operations & Compliance (10%).
Follow all study IRB-approved protocols and procedures, including compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
Prepare and manage IRB intervention-related documentation and funding agency reports, including adverse event reporting.
Design/revise protocol and procedures for how the group/intervention will be run (content, frequency, duration) as needed.
3. Data Management & Analysis (5%) 
Enter data from various sources (interventionist notes, surveys) and check for completeness, legibility, fidelity, and accuracy.
Assure strict confidentiality of study data and ensure appropriate data security at all stages of the research process.
May be involved in managing Excel, SPSS, Qualtrics, RedCap, and other databases; download data from Qualtrics and use data from various sources to determine follow-up call timing.
May be involved in designing coaching fidelity evaluations and structured interview guides for participant feedback.
May participate in data analysis (including qualitative coding) and facilitate data analysis as appropriate.
4. Research Dissemination & Team Leadership (5%) 
Collaborate with the PI, research coordinator, and other interventionists on preparing reports for the funding agency and IRB; use independent decision-making on an immediate, daily basis.
Serve as an author on project posters (including first authorship) and participate in drafting and editing presentation abstracts, scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and other dissemination efforts.

Required Qualifications 

• Education & Experience: BA/BS plus at least 3 years of related experience OR an advanced degree (masters or higher) plus 1 year of related experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal seven years.
• Prior experience working with family caregivers caring for a person with dementia and/or memory loss OR experience in a healthcare environment providing services to these populations.
• Proven skills in prioritizing tasks, multitasking, meeting deadlines, independent decision-making, and demonstrated commitment to value diversity and contribute to an inclusive working environment to ensure research compliance.
• Ability to manage data from various sources
• Effective interpersonal skills to effectively deliver intervention and manage a group of study participants as needed
• Effective counseling skills to effectively deliver the 6-session protocol to families of people with memory loss

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical/Counseling Degree: Masters degree in psychology/nursing or social work or a related field and a LICSW, LP, LPCC or LMFT, RN, NP license
• Masters degree or higher in public health, social sciences, or a related field.
• Prior experience entering, managing, and coordinating various databases and sources of data (i.e., Access, Excel, Qualtrics, Redcap)
• Personal and/or professional experience working with immigrant communities
• Experience recruiting and enrolling research participants and conducting community outreach/educational presentations

Pay Range: $35.00 - $37.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
