For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This position is funded for 40 weeks.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Natural resources management, biological sciences, planning, or policy MA/MS preferred with minimum additional experience of 2 year(s) in developing environmental compliance documents, land use management plans, or related documents.

  • Driver?s license, organized, good communicator, strong accountability with follow-through as work will be highly independent.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
Duties:

This position will assist with development and completion of Compatibility Determinations (CDs), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documentation, Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 7 consultations, and Comprehensive Conservation Plans (CCP). USFWS uses best available science to ensure that any new wildlife-dependent use is compatible with Refuge establishing purposes. This work includes, but is not limited to, coordinating with the refuge and regional office to research, write, and revise planning documents and shepherd them through the review and approval process both internal and external (including public notices and comment periods).

  • Coordinate with individual refuges and regional office to complete CDs, NEPA documents, hunting and fishing plans, and other planning projects. This can include meetings, written and verbal communications, developing tracking and review procedures, etc.   25%
  • Research, write, and revise planning documents.   55%
  • Coordinate review and approval process both internal and external (including public notices and comment periods) to complete planning documents. This can include any related materials or documents (e.g., public notices, internal memos, etc.)   15%
  • Communicate status and ongoing progress with management and leadership.   5%
