Position Summary:

The Federal Government Special Investigator specializes inconducting in-depth background investigations for individuals applying forsecurity clearances or sensitive positions within the federal government. Theygather and analyze information, conduct interviews, and collaborate withrelevant agencies to provide accurate and well-documented security clearancerecommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

A       Perform comprehensive background investigationsfor individuals seeking access to classified information or sensitive positionsin the federal government.

A       Gather and Analyze Information: Collect,evaluate, and analyze various sources of information to assess an applicant'ssuitability for a security clearance, including interviews, employment records,education history, financial data, and criminal records.

A       Interview applicants, references, supervisors,and others to gather essential information. Skillfully ask relevant questionsto ensure accurate and complete responses.

A       Maintain detailed case files, documentinginvestigation activities, findings, and observations according to establishedguidelines.

A       Coordinate and collaborate with law enforcementagencies, intelligence agencies, and other stakeholders to verify information,share findings, and ensure accurate and complete investigations.

A       Provide investigative reports and documentationto support the security clearance adjudication process, working closely withadjudicators and legal counsels.

A       Adhere to federal laws, regulations, andguidelines related to background investigations, security clearances, andclassified information protection.

A       Stay updated on laws, regulations, andinvestigative techniques through ongoing training and professional developmentactivities.

Qualificationsand Experience:

Education:

Bacheloras degree in criminaljustice, security studies, or related field.

Experience:

A       Minimum 5 years of experienceconducting background investigations, preferably in federal governmentsettings, with a focus on Tier 5 investigations.

A       Extensive knowledge and experience inconducting detailed Tier 5 background investigations, including interviews andanalysis of sensitive information.

A       Possess and maintain an active Tier 5security clearance.

Skills:

A       Understanding of federal laws andregulations related to security clearances and background investigations.

A       Proficiency in investigativetechniques, including interviewing, record analysis, and information verification.

A       Strong analytical and criticalthinking skills.

A       Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.
