Job Description
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants. The department may not be actively recruiting. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager.
Job Summary:
This individual will be responsible for maintaining departmental records and databases, aid faculty and students, managing the department computer lab, assisting with events, and performing other tasks as assigned by the department chair.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining departmental media, records, and databases, including student records, course schedules, and faculty information.
  • Helping faculty and students, including answering questions and resolving issues related to course registration and scheduling.
  • Assisting with the coordination of departmental events, such as guest lectures, workshops, and conferences.
  • Supporting the department chair with project management, including tracking progress and timelines, organizing meetings and events, and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Managing the department's website and social media accounts, video presentations, and photo promotional material, including updating content, troubleshooting technical issues, and monitoring analytics.
  • Providing technical support to faculty and students, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and assisting with the use of departmental equipment and resources.
  • Maintaining the department computer lab, including ensuring that all computers are in good working order, troubleshooting technical issues with lab equipment such as 3D printers and laser printers, and managing software and hardware upgrades on computers assigned to the lab.
  • Performing other administrative tasks as assigned by the department chair, such as scheduling meetings and taking minutes.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.
  • Students must possess a Federal Work-Study award letter for the current academic year.
  • Previous experience working in a computer lab at San Bernardino Valley College.
  • Experience working in an administrative or technical support role.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn database management and website administration.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of hardware (i.e., 3D printers) and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience with social media management is a plus.
  • Experience with computer lab maintenance and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Employment Requirements
The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
  • Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
  • Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
