Job description

CTG is seeking an experienced Mainframe Application Developer with strong Banking & Payments expertise to support enterprise payment processing applications in an IBM zOS environment. This role requires deep experience with COBOL, UNIX/AIX, scripting, and mission-critical banking transaction systems.

Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 7 months

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and support mainframe applications in IBM zOS environments.
  • Support banking and payment platforms including FedNow, Fedwire, RTP, SWIFT MT/MX, ISO 20022, and wire transfer systems.
  • Work with ACI MTS, ACI UPF, Fiserv EPP, and Swift Alliance Access (SAA).
  • Perform coding, testing, debugging, production support, and system enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain JCL, VSAM, REXX, and UNIX shell scripts.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to deliver payment system solutions.
  • Participate in SWIFT yearly standards upgrades and payment modernization initiatives.
Required Skills:
  • Strong COBOL development experience in IBM Mainframe zOS environments.
  • Experience with UNIX/AIX and scripting technologies.
  • Knowledge of VSAM, JCL, REXX, TSO/ISPF, DB2, IMS-DB, CICS, and IMS-DC.
  • Hands-on experience with banking and payment processing systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX messaging, RTP, FedNow, and Fedwire.
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • 5+ years of mainframe application development experience in banking or financial services.
  • Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical payment systems.
  • Knowledge of financial messaging standards and wire transfer operations.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
