What is the difference between Federal Cdl vs Commercial Driver's License?

AspectFederal CdlCommercial Driver's License
CredentialsFederal standards, includes CDL licenseState-issued license meeting federal standards
Work EnvironmentLong-haul, interstate truckingVaries from local to interstate trucking
UsageRequired for commercial driving across statesLegal license for commercial driving

The Federal CDL refers to the license that complies with federal regulations for commercial drivers. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is issued by states but must meet federal standards. Both are essential for commercial driving jobs, especially interstate trucking. The main difference is that the Federal CDL emphasizes compliance with federal regulations, while the CDL is the actual license issued by the state. They are interconnected, with the Federal CDL serving as the standard for licensing requirements nationwide.
