Position Summary:

The FBO General Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the FBO including, but not limited to: line operations, fuel sales, hangar leasing, maintenance department, new business development, customer retention, ensuring excellent customer service, quality control, and maintaining a safe and efficient facility through environmental and safety compliance.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage all aspects of the FBO facility, including personnel, safety, security, and customer service in accordance with Company policies and applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Monitors daily operations, recommending improved courses of action where necessary.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates activities for the sale and provision of general aviation support services such as fueling, maintenance, and hangar leasing.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and motivates all FBO personnel; plan, assign, and direct work while ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Directs and monitors all personnel functions and completes formal performance evaluations at regularly scheduled intervals.
  • Provides enthusiastic leadership to help support employees’ engagement and build morale.
  • Reviews and submits for approval compensation plans for all employees.
  • Ensures ongoing training and development of employees to improve work performance and maximize employee potential, this may include but is not limited to, safety, customer service standards, company values, etc.
  • Ensures all employees meet and maintain minimum training certification levels as dictated by the Company.
  • Reviews all requests for training, approves those which are appropriate and consistent with the FBO’s goals for professional/technical ability and advancement, and monitors their effectiveness.
  • Responsible for financial management of FBO including gross margins, capital expenditures, forecasting, budgeting, audit performance and expense management.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis of the FBO’s assortment of products and services to evaluate pricing, selling points and product offerings.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Addresses guest complaints to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Strives to delight and exceed customer expectations with each visit to the FBO; ensures all personnel carry the same internal philosophy and empowers them to do so.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for safety and security protocols.
  • Establish a culture that promotes safety and quality control through daily observations, coaching, routine audits, regular safety meetings, training and documented safety procedures.
  • Oversee facility maintenance and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Develop understanding of the market for the FBO and implement strategic plans for increasing revenue, including sales and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain good relations with the airport and local government authorities, local community, tenants & customers, and vendors and suppliers.
  • Regularly interact with customers to promote the FBO and to measure the level of customers satisfaction. Use customer feedback to constantly develop and improve capabilities and processes.
  • Demonstrates exemplary integrity, serving as a role model in exuding trust and honesty and maintaining the highest professional standards.
  • Maintains a personal demeanor consistent with Company culture, contributing to a positive, supportive work environment for all personnel.
  • Represents the FBO as a personal agent within the FBO and at functions outside of the FBO.
  • Serves as liaison between the FBO and local airport administration.
  • Makes sure facility is secure, well-lit and professional in appearance.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, manages, and complies with federal and state environmental health and safety regulations that affect FBO and fuel handling operations. This includes but may not be limited to:
    • Hazardous Waste Disposal
    • OSHA Right-to-Know
    • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Policy and Plan
    • Fire Prevention Plan and Policy
    • Hazard Communication Program and Policy
    • Portable Fire Extinguisher Policy
    • Emergency Action Plan and Policy
    • Personal Protective Equipment Program and Policy
  • Inspects and maintains the cleanliness, organization and appearance of all FBO and fuel handling areas in accordance with state and federal OSHA or other environmental health and safety laws to ensure a professional, safe environment for customers and employees.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)  or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and industry standards.
  • Must successfully pass the Company’s training programs.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers and employees at all times.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision demonstrating self-motivation to complete work tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions, changing priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and outside vendors and/or government agencies.
  • Must have exceptional leadership, team building and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and motivate personnel.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to positively relate and communicate.
  • Must process the competencies of leadership, entrepreneurship, negotiation, influence, operational decision making and customer orientation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Comfortable and willing to work outdoors regardless of and adapting to fluctuating weather conditions during the daytime or nighttime, which may include extreme heat, cold, precipitation, or wind.
  • Proficiency with basic calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Must be able to respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Strong computer aptitude, specifically with FBO management systems, web-based programs, Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to, Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communicational skills, balanced with a high level of confidence to influence and present to employees, managers and external individuals at all levels.
  • Analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance.
  • Ability to successfully pass and maintain issuance of Airport Identification and Badging.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Current GSC Certification with Chartered Airlines operating out of the FBO.
  • Willingness to comply with the 14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40 Random Drug Testing Program.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license for occasional travel requirements.
  • A professional appearance and manner consistent with Company culture must be maintained.
