Job description

Job Summary:

The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates and quotations to customers by analyzing proposal requirements such as materials, tooling, customer specifications and labor. This position will work closely with multiple sources, such as customers, engineering, sales, production and quality, to provide accurate customer quotes in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create routings to efficiently manufacture sheet metal fabrications per customer prints and models
  • Estimate run times for each routed step per company estimating standards
  • Identify any issues during the estimating or routing change process that may arise on the manufacturing floor and provide insight or solutions such as the need for process prints, Fixturing, tooling and alternate paths for manufacturing.
  • Execute routing and revision changes per customer and/or production’s needs (to best match actual manufacturing process)

Other duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Data entry
  • File management
  • Customer communications
  • Outside vendor target pricing
  • Print and/or model modification (when approved)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills and positive attitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to take and follow directions
  • Perficient math skills are a must
  • The ability to read and understand metal fabrication blue prints is a must
  • Strong computer skills including:
  • Typing
  • Email
  • Microsoft Excel
  • E2 or similar ERP systems
  • (Experience with Solidworks / design software is a plus)
