Description
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
    Position Summary: This position's primary responsibility is delivering food from the kitchen area to the table. This position reports to the Restaurant Manager.
    Major Responsibilities:
    • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers' tables rapidly and accurately
    • Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff, trainer.
    • Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)
    • Assist the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins
    • Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
    • Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water, as needed
    • Answer guests' questions about ingredients and menu items
    • Moves tables and chairs into position for meal service or special function.
    • Collects trashes, after each meal service, cleans front-of-house serving area.
    • Setup/breakdown of buffets and table moving.
    • Keep ice bins in service and bar areas filled.
    • Collects soiled linen from dining room and delivers to linen pick up area.
    • Assists with banquet set up and tear down.
    • Helps maintain a fully stocked buffet/salad bar while maintaining that it is also clean & orderly.
    • Assist servers with sorting and polishing of silverware and folding and rolling of linens.
    Skills and Abilities:
    • Prefer at least one year experience as a bus person at an upscale restaurant or club.
    • Must be able to understand and speak enough English to understand and follow directions
    • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
    • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
    • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends
    • Multi-tasking abilities
    • Good oral communication skills
    • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
    Education/Training/Certificates/Licenses:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    Working Conditions:
    This position may be indoors or outdoors, at any food outlet. May also work at cater-outs in members' homes. Must be able to stand and walk continuously for several hours at a time. Must have flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach overhead to obtain needed supplies. Must be able to lift trays of dishes, approx. 20 lbs. at a time.
