Fast Channels Streaming information

What are fast channels in streaming?

FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) channels are streaming TV channels that provide viewers with free content, supported by ads, and typically delivered in a linear, scheduled format similar to traditional television. These channels are accessible over the internet through various streaming platforms and smart TVs. FAST channels offer a wide range of programming, including news, movies, sports, and niche content, making them an attractive alternative for cord-cutters who want a TV-like experience without a subscription fee.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in fast channels streaming roles?

To thrive in Fast Channels Streaming, you need a strong understanding of video content distribution, digital media workflows, and OTT (over-the-top) streaming platforms, often supported by experience in broadcast or digital media industries. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), ad-insertion technologies, streaming protocols (like HLS or DASH), and analytics platforms is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional communication skills help professionals manage rapidly changing content and technical requirements. These skills enable seamless streaming operations, maximize viewer engagement, and ensure competitive delivery in the fast-evolving digital media landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in fast channels streaming, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Fast Channels Streaming often encounter challenges such as managing high volumes of live content, ensuring seamless playback across devices, and rapidly adapting to evolving viewer preferences. Addressing these requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, familiarity with streaming platforms, and close collaboration with content, marketing, and technology teams. Staying current with industry trends and adopting agile workflows can also help professionals stay ahead and deliver a smooth viewing experience.

Job description

OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox CorporationUnder the FOX banner, we produce and distribute content through some of the world’s leading and most valued brands, including: FOX News Media, FOX Sports, FOX Entertainment, FOX Television Stations and Tubi Media Group. We empower a diverse range of creators to imagine and develop culturally significant content, while building an organization that thrives on creative ideas, operational expertise and strategic thinking.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox Corporation’s AdRise Solutions Engineering team sits at the intersection of streaming technology, ad products, data, and revenue. We own the end-to-end ad delivery architecture across FoxOne, Tubi, and Fox’s broader direct-to-consumer ecosystem, spanning player integrations, SSAI/DAI workflows, ad server configuration, demand integrations, partner enablement, and the data systems used to measure, troubleshoot, and optimize monetization.

We’re hiring a Staff Solutions Engineer with deep expertise in ad technology and data. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who can lead complex platform integrations, diagnose ambiguous cross-system issues, write advanced SQL against large-scale ad log datasets, and translate technical findings into clear business and product direction.

This person will be a technical authority for the team: owning the hardest integration and delivery problems, defining scalable implementation patterns, improving escalation and troubleshooting frameworks, and building trusted relationships across engineering, product, yield, sales, stations, vendors, and external partners.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead complex DAI/SSAI platform integrations from concept through launch, including ad server architecture, technical discovery, Eng-to-Eng coordination, QA planning, partner validation, and production readiness across live, VOD, and FAST distribution channels.
  • Build and own analytical frameworks using SQL, Databricks, and large-scale ad log datasets to diagnose delivery discrepancies, measure inventory performance, identify root causes, and surface monetization opportunities across FreeWheel, AdRise proprietary systems, and partner data sources.
  • Serve as a recognized technical authority across the full streaming ad delivery stack, including player behavior, stitcher workflows, mediation layers, FreeWheel configuration, programmatic demand sources, measurement vendors, identity signals, and impression/click/event tracking.
  • Own high-severity technical investigations involving ad delivery, targeting, measurement, reporting, partner integrations, and revenue-impacting discrepancies. Drive issues from detection through root cause analysis, workarounds, resolution, and long-term prevention.
  • Define implementation standards, ad call design patterns, QA expectations, troubleshooting playbooks, monitoring requirements, and escalation models that other engineers and cross-functional partners can execute against.
  • Maintain and evolve the FreeWheel ecosystem, including network configuration, content break policies, site section architecture, inventory packaging, targeting design, profile management, and reporting alignment.
  • Partner directly with yield, sales, product, engineering, and station teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, from new ad unit concepts through commercial launch.
  • Provide senior technical support to Fox Television Stations for O&O and non-O&O inventory design, flow architecture, partner enablement, and delivery troubleshooting.
  • Identify systemic product gaps and operational inefficiencies, design near-term solutions, and advocate for long-term platform improvements with product and engineering partners.
  • Mentor other solutions engineers by reviewing technical designs, improving analytical approaches, creating documentation, and raising the team’s overall technical bar.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 5-8+ years of experience in ad technology, streaming media, solutions engineering, technical operations, platform integrations, or a related technical function.
  • Deep experience with video advertising and ad server platforms, particularly FreeWheel, including network management, trafficking, reporting, troubleshooting, inventory architecture, and monetization workflows.
  • Strong SQL fluency, including experience writing complex queries against large-scale event-level datasets and turning raw delivery data into actionable technical, product, and business insight.
  • Working knowledge of SSAI/DAI architecture, including player behavior, stitcher logic, mediation layers, ad decisioning, tracking events, and live/VOD/FAST delivery workflows.
  • Strong understanding of streaming ad signal design, including VAST, VMAP, SCTE-35, identity/authentication signals, targeting key-values, macros, event beacons, and impression measurement.
  • Experience working with data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar environments for ad delivery analytics and operational troubleshooting.
  • Comfort using technical tools such as APIs, cURL, Postman, JSON/XML, log analysis tools, dashboarding systems, and scripting or automation workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end multi-party platform integrations, including technical discovery, requirements definition, partner communication, QA coordination, launch readiness, and post-launch support.
  • Ability to operate independently on ambiguous, high-impact problems by defining the path, aligning stakeholders, communicating tradeoffs, and driving toward resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust, explain complex technical concepts clearly, and adapt communication for engineering, product, business, executive, and external partner audiences.
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Experience with programmatic integrations, including SSP/DSP connections, header bidding, OpenRTB, and supply path troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with identity and audience data solutions such as LiveRamp, RampID, UID2, DMP/CDP workflows, or clean room integrations.
  • Experience with Python or another scripting language for workflow automation, data analysis, or repeatable troubleshooting.
  • Experience in both live and VOD SSAI workflows, including sports, tentpole events, FAST channels, or other high-concurrency streaming environments.
  • Prior experience supporting technical integrations for affiliates, stations, distribution partners, or publishers.
ABOUT YOU

You are the person the team brings in for the most ambiguous, cross-platform problems because you can connect the technical, data, product, and business contexts. You know how to find the signal in messy ad delivery data, explain what is happening, design a path forward, and build a framework that makes the issue easier to detect, resolve, or prevent next time.

You improve the team beyond your own project load. You create standards, mentor others, strengthen partner trust, and make complex integrations and escalations cleaner because you were involved.
