What is a fashion video job?

Fashion video jobs involve creating, directing, filming, and editing video content specifically for the fashion industry. These roles can include videographers, editors, directors, and producers who work on projects such as runway show recordings, behind-the-scenes footage, promotional videos, and social media content for fashion brands. Professionals in this field collaborate closely with designers, stylists, models, and marketing teams to bring the visual narrative of a brand or collection to life. Creativity, technical video skills, and a strong sense of style are essential for success in fashion video jobs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fashion videographer?

To thrive as a Fashion Videographer, you need expertise in camera operation, lighting, video editing, and a strong sense of visual storytelling, often supported by a degree in film, media, or a related field. Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, as well as familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and excellent collaboration skills help you capture and convey the unique essence of fashion brands. To address these challenges, clear communication, meticulous pre-production planning, and flexibility during shoots are essential. Building strong relationships with collaborators and staying updated on industry trends can also help ensure a smooth and successful production process.

  • Support contract and deal memo workflows, including tracking scopes of work, deliverables, usage rights, and negotiation considerations
  • Monitor creator trends, platform performance, audience behaviors, and market rates across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms
  • Build and maintain relationships with agents, managers, and creator representatives while expanding Hearst's creator network
  • Maintain creator databases, project tracking systems, vendor onboarding documentation, and invoice processing to ensure operational excellence

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 1+ years of experience in creator partnerships, talent coordination, influencer marketing, video development, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of the creator economy and social media ecosystems, with the ability to assess creator-brand fit across platforms
  • Experience sourcing and evaluating digital creators and influencers across varying audience sizes and content categories
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting with creators, agents, managers, and internal teams
  • Familiarity with creator contracts, usage rights, deliverables, and talent deal structures
  • Ability to analyze creator performance metrics, platform trends, and market insights to inform recommendations
  • Experience creating presentations, talent decks, and development materials is preferred
  • Familiarity with creator management platforms such as CreatorIQ, Grin, or similar tools is a plus
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
  • This position is based in New York and requires working in the office 4 days per week
