Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to join a growing manufacturing operation in the Greenwood, SC area. This is a floor-focused quality role, with a bulk of your time spent working directly with production to investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions to completion.


The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving problems at the source—not someone who wants to spend the majority of their day behind a desk. You’ll work in a high-mix manufacturing environment and have responsibility for root cause analysis, PPAP, process capability, Gage R&R, quality documentation, and ISO 9001 support. CMM/Faro 3D scanning experience is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with PPAP and AIAG methodology
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D or similar methods
  • Strong blueprint reading and working knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with Cpk/process capability and Gage R&R
  • Comfortable spending the majority of the workday on a manufacturing floor
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to occasional production issues outside normal scheduled hours
  • CMM/Faro 3D scanning experience preferred
  • ASQ CQE certification and/or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred


Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations of internal and external quality issues and drive corrective actions to closure
  • Manage PPAP activities in accordance with AIAG requirements
  • Analyze process capability, Cpk, Gage R&R, and other quality data
  • Update PFMEAs and related process documentation based on corrective actions
  • Support ISO 9001:2015 internal audits and the quality management system
  • Create and revise SOPs and work instructions
  • Partner with Operations to improve processes, workflow, and quality controls
  • Maintain 6S standards throughout the manufacturing environment
