Job description


The Long Island Educational Opportunity Center (LIEOC) at Farmingdale State College is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Adjunct Instructor to teach a Pharmacy Technician class in the Hempstead, NY location. The incumbent will deliver high-quality instruction to students preparing for national certification and roles within retail, hospital, and specialty pharmacy settings. Ideal candidates enjoy sharing their expertise and helping students gain confidence in their technical, regulatory, and professional skills.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teach engaging lessons covering pharmacy operations, pharmacology fundamentals, compounding, medication safety, and pharmacy regulations.
  • Provide interactive demonstrations of real-world pharmacy workflows, equipment, and calculations.
  • Assess student knowledge through assignments, quizzes, labs, and certification exam preparation activities.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and provide clear, constructive feedback to learners.
  • Ensure all instruction aligns with PTCB/NHA exam standards and state pharmacy regulations.
  • Support student success through mentorship and career guidance.
Instruction for this role is scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 9:30pm at our Hempstead, NY location.

Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with underserved populations.
  • Experience in retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy.
  • Teaching or training experience in a pharmacy environment.
  • Experience with sterile compounding or hospital operations.
