Job Description

Temporary Event Assistant

Organization: The Meadow Event Park / Virginia Farm Bureau Holding Corporation

Location: The Meadow Event Park, 13191 Dawn Boulevard, Doswell, VA 23047

Reports To: Manager of Vendor Sales & Rental Services

Classification: Temporary, Part-Time (At-Will) Contract Employee

Compensation: $20.00 per hour (Federal and State income taxes withheld as required by law)

Schedule: Event-based; primarily weekends. Specific dates and times provided in advance of each scheduled event.

Position Summary

The Temporary Event Assistant provides on-site facility and client support for private and public events held at The Meadow Event Park, including weddings, fundraisers, community gatherings, and nonprofit functions. Serving as the primary on-site point of contact, this position ensures the facility is open, prepared, and welcoming for rental clients, and that the property is properly secured at the conclusion of each event.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Facility Preparation

  • Unlock grounds and buildings for clients prior to their scheduled arrival
  • Turn on lights and adjust building temperature to ensure a comfortable environment
  • Confirm event spaces are ready for client use, including setup areas and hospitality spaces

Event Support

  • Greet clients and guests as they arrive and serve as the on-site point of contact
  • Support clients throughout setup, hosting, and teardown of their event
  • Oversee deliveries and vendor arrivals as needed
  • Communicate any additional support needs to the supervisor to ensure event success
  • Ensure a positive guest experience throughout the duration of the event

Facility Closing

  • Verify the facility is well kept following event close
  • Turn off lights and secure the building and grounds after the event

Post-Event

  • Report any facility issues, damages, or client concerns to the supervisor
  • Provide feedback on event operations when requested

Qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks (walking the grounds, opening/closing facilities, assisting with setup)
  • Prior event, hospitality, or facility experience preferred but not required

Terms of Employment

  • Payment of fees will be made within 10 working days of the ending date of the contract period.
  • Employees must comply with The Meadow Event Park Substance Abuse Policy, which prohibits the consumption of, or being under the influence of, alcohol or illegal drugs while on property or while performing business at any location.
  • This position does not constitute a contract for continued employment. All employment is considered At Will and may be terminated at any time by The Meadow Event Park or the employee.
