Job description

The Farm Equipment Mechanic Helper will be responsible for assisting the mechanics and equipment operators in maintaining and repairing machinery used for sod production. Working closely with the team to ensure that equipment runs smoothly, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. Typical work hours are Monday - Friday 7 am to 4 pm with some opportunities to work additional hours/weekends. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position including a compensation package prepared to meet your needs. Job Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist mechanics in performing routine maintenance tasks on tractors, movers, harvesters, and other sod-related machinery. Clean & lubricate equipment components. Inspect belts, hoses, filters, and other parts for wear & tear. Help with minor repairs, such as replacing worn-out blades or adjusting settings.
  • Equipment Repair: Support mechanics in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues. Hand tools & parts to mechanics during repairs. Learn basis repair techniques & gain familiarity with common equipment problems.
  • Inventory Management: Keep track of spare parts, tools, and supplies. Assist in organizing the workshop and maintaining an inventory system. Help order replacement parts as needed.
  • Field Assistance: Accompany equipment operators to the field during sod harvesting & installation. Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and adjustments. Be prepared to troubleshoot minor issues during field operations.
  • Safety & Cleanliness: Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times. Keep work areas clean and organized. report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment usage. Assist in documenting equipment specifications and serial numbers.
  • Valid driver's license. Position does not require travel to other Duda & Sons offices or locations. Work is completed at the Cocoa Ranch shop/location.
