Position Summary
The General Labor position is responsible for many entry level positions within the production work area. This position would be placed as a Fryer Grader, Packer, Sanitation Worker, Supply Attendant, and more. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms' mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.
Essential Functions
Fryer Grader - Broken Stick Observation
  • Observe all stick bar assemblies as they rotate from underneath through the stick insertion process.

  • Monitor stick bars for pieces of broken stick still adhered within the fryer clips.

  • Notify the Fryer Operator when (a) broken stick(s) is observed.

  • Utilize a handheld counter to count the amount of broken sticks that have made if through the process.

  • Utilize a flashlight to assist with monitoring the stick bars as they cycle through the process.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Fryer Grader - Post Fryer/Pre-Freezer
  • Responsible for removing "B-grade" product from the line and placing them into a condemn barrel.

  • Responsible for ensuring product is separated and the transfer for product into the freezer is clean.

  • Notify a Sanitation or Condemn Room Attendant Team Member when the condemn barrel is full.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Packer
  • Responsible for packing the appropriate number of frozen corndogs in boxes using proper equipment and procedures.

  • Visually inspect and grade product to determine grade for production lines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Sanitation
  • Maintain good housekeeping and sanitary conditions in all areas on the production floor.

  • Help maintain and improve quality and food safety to ensure compliance with company standards and USDA regulatory requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Product Inspector
  • Visually and physically inspector product at any step in the process for quality to ensure compliance with company standards and USDA regulatory requirements.

  • Notify leadership of any consistent abnormalities detected to avoid poor quality products.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Stacker
  • Stack cases of frozen corndogs onto pallets, using required stacking patterns while maintaining acceptable quality, productivity and safety standards, and transport with pallet jack.

  • Must safely operate pallet jack.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supply Attendant
  • Responsible for maintaining and organizing PPE supply room.

  • Responsible for cleanliness of boot room, restrooms, break rooms, and other surrounding areas.

  • Responsible for notifying management of PPE inventory on a consistent basis.

  • Responsible for distribution of PPE in accordance with GMP policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year. Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.
Physical Requirements
Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor

  • Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.

  • Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work in a fast pace work environment.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.

  • Must be able to read and write English.

  • Must have basic math skills.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • HS diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and clean up preferred.

  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.

  • Must be able to safely operate forklift and/or pallet jack.

  • Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
