Description
Belstra Group Farms is a pig production organization with over 20 swine farm facilities located in Northwest Indiana. Belstra is in search of individuals to fill farm maintenance positions. The maintenance team is responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures, buildings, and swine equipment such as automated feed systems, penning for animals, fresh water systems, etc. In addition, this team is responsible for moving building materials to designated areas. The maintenance member must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- Â Inspection, maintenance, and repairs on small engines, generators, farm specific vehicles (buses, trailers, tractors), etc., including in accordance with factory and industry standards
- Â Maintaining accurate parts inventory
- Â Maintaining shop cleanliness
- Â Keeping vehicle maintenance records and paperwork accurate and up-to-date
- Â Ensuring services provided are in compliance with safety procedures
- Â Following the Belstra Group Farms Animal Welfare Policy, and proper PPE safety guidelines
- Â General electrical work
Physical Demands:
- Â Regularly lift 50-pounds and at times 100-pounds
- Â Climb ladders and stairs and work at heights with good body balance
- Â Ability to regularly walk, bend, stoop, climb, kneel, crawl, crouch, etc.
- Â Occasional work near moving mechanical parts
- Â Exposure to swine environment
- Â Withstand exposure to seasonal weather conditions
- Â Work from ladders or at high areas of approximately 20-30 feet
Requirements
Skills and Requirements:
- Â 1-year experience as a mechanic or mechanic assistant preferred
- Â Knowledge and familiarity of hydraulics, an asset but not required
- Â Proficient reading, writing, and communication skills
- Â Basic computer skills, in order to use tablet for service software program
- Â Ability to work alone or as a team
- Â Basic Electrical knowledge
Education and Experience:
- Â High school degree or equivalentÂ
- Â Technical training not required, but a plus
- Â Minimum of 3-years maintenance experience
- Â Must possess a valid drivers' license, although transportation is provided from the maintenance headquarters to the work site
