POSITION SUMMARY


As a key member of the Retail Team, the Retail Sales Specialist supports the daily operations of the Farm Store in alignment with SingleThread’s standards of hospitality and presentation. This role is responsible for engaging warmly with guests, providing timely and accurate communication, facilitating both onsite and pickup sales, and ensuring the Farm Store and Hospitality spaces are consistently clean, well-organized, and reflective of the quality and values of SingleThread Farms. The Retail Sales Specialist executes a seamless and elevated retail experience that showcases the farm’s seasonal offerings and artisan products. They may also assist with off-site sales events and markets to further extend SingleThread Farm’s community outreach.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Engagement & Hospitality

  • Deliver exceptional service aligned with SingleThread’s culture of elevated hospitality and professionalism.
  • Create meaningful rapport with guests and potential guests through personalized, knowledgeable, and warm interactions.
  • Represent SingleThread's service standards in all guest-facing moments, ensuring consistency in tone, demeanor, and hospitality.
  • Respond to guest inquiries promptly and courteously, escalating questions or concerns to leadership when appropriate.

Retail Operations

  • Assist in the execution of the guest retail experience, including merchandising, product education, and personalized recommendations.
  • Maintain stock levels by restocking items regularly and proactively communicating inventory needs to Retail Leadership.
  • Facilitate purchases efficiently using the SpotOn POS system, ensuring accuracy and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and brand-appropriate retail space at all times.

Programming & Events

  • Support and assist with the execution of farm tours, workshops, off-site markets, and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs.
  • Facilitate sales during farmers markets, and assist with the set up and breakdown of market stalls, providing guidance and information as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Farm and Floral teams to stay informed on seasonal trends and forecast needs relevant to tours, workshops, and product offerings.

Brand & Product Knowledge

  • Possess and continually develop detailed knowledge of SingleThread’s products, partner producers, company history, and sustainable farming practices.
  • Share this knowledge with guests to enhance their experience and connection to the brand.

Facility Standards & Communication

  • Uphold facility dress code that reflects SingleThread’s brand and professional standards.
  • Maintain guest areas, including daily cleaning and restocking of bathrooms.
  • Keep workspaces clean, tidy, and organized.
  • Communicate effectively with both Farm and Floral Leadership and Retail Leadership to ensure seamless operations and guest service.

General

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, in response to evolving business needs.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in high-end hospitality and/or retail sales environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on clarity, warmth, and professionalism.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable using SpotON or other retail POS system, Google Suite, Slack, OpenTable, Canva, and/or other relevant platforms.
  • Familiarity with food and farming terminology (training provided as needed).
  • Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and the ability to pivot as needed in a fast-paced setting.
  • Creative thinker with sound judgment, critical decision-making skills, and a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments while also functioning independently.
  • Maintains high visual standards aligned with SingleThread Farm Store’s brand and presentation ethos.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely and successfully with federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, climb stairs and steps, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
