Job Summary/Basic Function
The Small Agricultural Business Incubator Program at Shepherd helps new and beginning farmers access the land, tools, and mentorship to start their farm business. The Incubator Farm Assistant will assist the Incubator Farm Coordinator with many aspects of this program, including organizing educational workshops, advertising programs via social media and print media, speaking with small-scale farmers to better understand their needs, and/or hands-on farm work. Students in this position should expect to gain hands-on, varied experience with running an educational program.
Applicants should be flexible, willing to learn, strong communicators, and able to work independently. They do not need farm experience but should be comfortable working outside. Experience with excel is helpful. Some evening availability is required to assist with workshops.
This position is at Tabler Farm, 482 Billmyer Mill Rd, Shepherdstown. Reliable transportation is required. If transportation is an issue for you, please still apply, as carpooling may be an option.
