A family and consumer science education (FACS) teacher—a home economics teacher— instructs students to navigate the many challenges of adult life including family dynamics, home skills, and career challenges. Topics you cover as an FACS teacher include basic nutrition, family economics, relationships, health, and time management. You may also teach basic cooking instruction and sewing techniques depending on the school and state curriculum. As an FACS teacher, you give students the life skills they need to be adults and support the students as they make choices regarding their futures.
