Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & CurriculumDevelop and deliver engaging FCS instruction aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and school curriculum goals
Teach courses such as:Nutrition and Culinary ArtsHuman Development and Family Studies
Personal Finance and Consumer Education
Life Skills and Independent Living
Design hands-on, project-based learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to real-world applications
Classroom & Lab ManagementMaintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment consistent with LLACSโs values-based culture
Supervise and manage food preparation labs, classroom projects, and collaborative student activities
Enforce school-wide expectations for discipline, respect, responsibility, and accountability
Student DevelopmentSupport studentsโ academic, emotional, and social growth through a relational and supportive teaching approach
Integrate character education aligned with LLACSโs core values and mission
Foster leadership, teamwork, and responsibility in all classroom activities
Assessment & CommunicationAssess student learning using performance tasks, projects, tests, and formative assessments
Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student achievement and behavior
Collaboration & School InvolvementCollaborate with faculty and administration to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives
Participate in professional development and school-wide training sessions
Support school culture initiatives and student engagement programs
QualificationsBachelorโs degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, Career and Technical Education, or related field
Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Family and Consumer Sciences or eligibility to obtain certification
Strong classroom management skills and ability to maintain structured learning environments
Experience with hands-on or lab-based instruction preferred
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to values-based education and student development
Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching FCS or related CTE courses at the middle or high school level
Experience managing culinary or life skills labs
Experience working in urban or diverse school settings
Strong background in project-based or experiential learning
