Pipelayer Helper


Firma Contracting is currently seeking a Pipelayer Helper to work on underground utility projects located in Edmonton. We offer competitive wages, work / life balance, great opportunity for advancement, training and potential for work over the winter.


Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Pipelayer with installation of water, storm and sanitary pipe
  • Follow the established grade for water, storm and sanitary pipe
  • Provide a high degree of clear communication with the lead hand, pipelayer and other workers in the ditch to maintain safe operations and quality installation
  • Continuous assessment of risk and implementation of required controls / mitigations
  • Complete site documentation as required
  • Participate in inspections and incidents - address deficiencies / issues through corrective actions
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity


Required Skills:

  • 1+ years of pipelayer helper experience is required
  • Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience is an asset
  • High attention to detail and management of quality specifications
  • Safety conscious
  • Able to follow instruction from the pipelayer
  • Able to support other positions as needed
  • Strong communication skills - provide instructions clearly with sufficient detail
  • Ability to mentor workers for advancement
  • Physically capable of performing heavy manual labour
  • Consistent, reliable and always show up for work fit for duty
