What is a Fall Internship in Robotics?

A Fall Internship in Robotics is a temporary, hands-on learning opportunity offered by companies or research institutions during the autumn months, typically for students or recent graduates interested in robotics. Interns work on real-world projects involving robotics hardware, software, automation, or artificial intelligence, gaining practical experience and industry exposure. These internships help participants develop technical skills, build professional networks, and enhance their resumes for future career opportunities in robotics or related fields.

What types of projects do Fall Internship Robotics interns typically work on, and how do these projects contribute to the team?

Fall Internship Robotics interns are often assigned to hands-on projects such as developing prototype components, writing and testing code for robotic systems, or assisting with sensor integration. These projects are designed to align with the team's current goals and give interns the opportunity to make meaningful contributions. Interns usually collaborate closely with engineers and fellow interns, gaining practical experience while learning industry-standard tools and workflows. The collaborative environment also helps interns develop communication skills and build a professional network within the robotics field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Fall Internship Robotics, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fall Internship Robotics, you typically need a background in engineering or computer science, with coursework in robotics, programming, and mathematics. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++, robotics platforms like ROS, and hands-on experience with hardware or simulation tools are highly valued. Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and effective communication help interns adapt to collaborative, project-driven environments. These competencies enable interns to contribute meaningfully to robotics projects and maximize learning during the internship.

Job description

Are you passionate about robotics and hardware. Do you want to solve real customer problems through innovative technology. Do you enjoy working on scalable projects in a collaborative team environment.

Do you want to see your hardware solutions directly impact millions of customers worldwide?
At Amazon, we hire the best minds in technology to innovate and build on behalf of our customers. Customer obsession is part of our company DNA, which has made us one of the world's most beloved brands.
We're looking for current students to join us as Robotics Hardware Development Intern/Co-op in 2026 with hardware specializations in robotics engineering, mechanical, electrical, hardware test, reliability, failure analysis, manufacturing, operations, and more!
We're looking for curious minds who think big and want to define tomorrow's technology. At Amazon, you'll grow into the high-impact engineer you know you can be, supported by a culture of learning and mentorship

Every day brings exciting new challenges and opportunities for personal growth.
By applying to this role, you will be considered for Robotics Hardware Development Engineer Intern/Co-op (2026) opportunities across various Robotics teams at Amazon, with internship positions available for multiple locations, durations (3-6+ months), and year-round start dates (winter, spring, summer, fall).
Amazon intern and co-op roles follow the same internship structure. "Intern/Internship" wording refers to both interns and co-ops. Amazon internships across all seasons are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work in office, Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm

Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon work-day. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes.
The robotics internship join dates, length, location, and prospective team will be finalized at the time of any applicable job offers

In your application, you will be able to provide your preference of start dates, internship duration, and location. While your preference will be taken into consideration, we cannot guarantee that we can meet your selection based on several factors including but not limited to the internship availability and business needs of this role.
Key job responsibilities
Completing project tasks with a team of other interns/co-ops and Amazon engineers
Utilizing Amazon engineering tools and processes
Prototyping and testing concepts or features
Tracking progress of task deliverables
Developing and maintaining design documentation
Presenting information to managers and engineers
A day in the life
Our internship program provides hands-on learning and building experiences for students who are interested in a career in hardware engineering.

In addition to working on an impactful project, you will have the opportunity to engage with Amazonians for both personal and professional development, expand your network, and participate in fun activities with other interns. No matter the location of your internship, we give you the tools to own your internship and learn in a real-world setting.
