Job description

WAVY-TV 10/ WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic NEWSROOM INTERN who wants to gain experience in a newsroom including, but not limited to: working the assignment desk; assisting producers with writing and prep for newscasts; working with editors to prep newscasts; working with photographers and reporters in the newsroom and in the field (to include shooting, editing and prep for the final on-air stories).

This is an UNPAID / FOR-CREDIT position for the Fall semester 2026 only.

We are looking for someone who has completed journalism courses, understands journalistic integrity, and has a passion for the field. Familiarity with newswriting software, shooting video for news, and working knowledge of video editing software preferred, but not required. Please include relevant coursework in resume/application.

The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station work to support each other. Before beginning, the intern *must be* enrolled in a college degree granting program, and *will be required* to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program.

12-15 hours per week on site. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday required; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with supervisor.
