Job description

The Cluster Parishes of Portsmouth and Chesapeake are seeking applications for a Children's Faith Formation Coordinator. This is a part time 25 hours a week position.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Duties will include correspondence
  • resource management
  • ordering supplies
  • tracking attendance
  • mapping schedules, and assisting the Adult Formation Coordinator with managing Safe Environment, including VIRTUS.
  • Instructing catechists, parents, and children.
  • Communicate with the Pastor, the formation team, parents, and catechists.
  • Coordinate Formation for K-S and OCIA children, 7-15, retreats for First Communion, First Reconciliation, and OCIA.
  • Organize parties for children, parents, and catechists.
  • Assist in coordinating Stations of the Cross during Lent; organize reconciliation services during Advent and Lent.
  • Lead catechists and parents in their requirements for catechizing children. Ensure all sacraments received by children are correctly recorded in the sacramental logbooks, send notification of sacraments to Baptism parishes, and record notifications from other parishes.
  • Assist with preparations for Holy Week Masses and services.
