Job description

Church of the Holy Family is seeking a Part-Time Youth Minister.

The Youth Ministry Coordinator collaborates with parish efforts toencounterJesus, deepen faith and invite new disciples by designing programs and outreach for high school youth that foster relationship with God and the Catholic Church. The part-time youth minister(20hours per week)will focus primarily on Confirmation and teen faith formation (9th-12thgrade). They lead all Teen Faith Formation Programs and ensure faithful adherence to Church teaching and diocesan guidelines, recruit volunteer catechists, manage the Youth Ministry budget, and foster lifelong faith formation under the pastor's andDirector of Faith Formation's direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the High School Faith Formation Program (9th - 12th Grade):
    1. Evaluates program curricula and ensures that all curricula have been approved by the USCCB
    2. Develop individualized programs for children with special religious education needs
    3. Manages the schedule of volunteer catechists and volunteer substitute catechists to ensure coverage for grades 9th-12th
    4. Manages the budget lines tied to the Youth Ministry Programs
      1. Orders all supplies (including curriculum materials) for teen programs
    5. Travel with teens to occasional Diocesan events (DYC, World Youth Day, etc.)
    6. Coordinate with other leaders in the parish to integrate youth into opportunities for service in the community
    7. Works with the Director of Faith Formation to engage parents in opportunities for Faith Formation through Family Formation opportunities
    8. Works with the Director of Faith Formation to recruit and train volunteer catechists
    9. Works with theDirector of Faith Formationto ensure that all volunteer catechists are compliant with Safe Environment Policies
  2. Responsible for the High School Confirmation Program:
    1. Travels with the high school students in Confirmation to the Diocesan Confirmation Retreat
    2. Coordinates with Diocesan staff and other youth ministers for any liturgies related to Confirmation
    3. Communicates with parents
    4. Organize Confirmation candidate interviews for each student with the pastor
    5. Ensures all necessary information is gathered for sacramental records and coordinates with the parish secretary to hand off that information
    6. Manages the budget line tied to the Confirmation Program
