Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Automation & Smart Factory Engineer to support advanced manufacturing operations through the design, implementation, and commissioning of industrial control and automation systems. This role plays a key part in modernizing plant operations through digitalization, smart factory initiatives, and advanced process automation.

The ideal candidate brings handsโ€‘on experience delivering automation projects from concept through startup and has a strong background in PLC/DCS systems, industrial networking, and automated manufacturing technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and implement industrial control systems using PLC and DCS platforms
  • Develop and deploy Smart Factory and digitalization solutions using plant process data to drive operational decisions
  • Design and implement automated packaging, filling, and material handling systems
  • Support automated warehousing and logistics system integration
  • Develop and implement recipe control systems for automated manufacturing processes
  • Lead automation projects from initial scoping through commissioning and handโ€‘off to operations
  • Manage vendors, contractors, and system integrators during equipment installation and startup
  • Participate in commissioning, validation, and startup of automated production systems (IQ/OQ)
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and cybersecurity standards
  • Support OT (Operational Technology) networks and industrial cybersecurity initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience executing automation or digitalization projects from inception through completion, including:
    • Basic and detailed engineering
    • Vendor selection and equipment procurement
    • Installation and contractor oversight
    • Commissioning, startup, and turnover to operations
  • Handsโ€‘on experience with PLC and/or DCS control systems such as:
    • Siemens
    • Honeywell
    • Foxboro
    • PCSโ€‘7 or similar platforms
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols including:
    • Modbus TCP/IP
    • Ethernet/IP
    • Profibus
    • HART
    • Foundation Fieldbus
  • Working knowledge of OT networking and cybersecurity concepts
  • Experience with automation system commissioning and validation (IQ/OQ)
  • Ability to support automation safety strategies including:
    • Interlocks and emergency stops
    • Independent protection layers
    • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
    • Risk assessments (HAZOP/LOPA, SIL concepts preferred)
  • Willingness to travel (10โ€“20%) and relocate to the site location as required (Relocation Assistance Available)
