About the role

The Smart Factory Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying opportunities, building business cases, designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to drive the digital transformation of manufacturing operations.

The role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, warehouse automation, and new technology evaluations and implementations to optimize production processes, enhance productivity, and ensure the seamless integration of smart manufacturing systems.

Role Responsibilities

Digital Strategy

  • Contribute to the strategic planning, roadmap development and execution of digital transformation projects within the site.

Technology Deployment

  • Create and implement innovative automation solutions to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and implement novel technologies to collect and analyse data for predictive analytics and process optimization.
  • Work closely with global & regional teams, IT and other functions to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions across the site, building standards to enable expedited scaling.
  • Integrate robotic systems to enhance production capabilities and ensure safety across operations.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure that all automation solutions adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and best practice.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
  • Develop strong business cases and recommend pilot project implementations for future platform scalability, production deployment, based on pilot outcome.
  • Stay updated with the latest Industry 4.0 trends and technologies and conduct training sessions for team members.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Preferably in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a closely related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. OR an Associate's degree in Engineering: Preferably in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment experience minimum required.

  • Expertise in SCADA systems, robotics, warehouse automation, and new technology evaluations and implementations.

  • Strong understanding of modern manufacturing processes and Industry 4.0 concepts.

  • 3+ years' experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and/or participating in warehouse and factory automationor Industry 4.0 projects.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Financial acumen (as related to project management skills**)

  • Experienced in business case development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and environments in the manufacturing sector.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in automation and Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g. robotics, foundational data, IoT)
